Natural March

Article By Alice

I was struggling to find a topic for March when a thought popped into my head while in the shower, funny time for an epiphany but I’m sure its happened to all of us, and it just so happens that the topic would be about all things natural!

When somebody says ‘Im starting to go a bit more natural now’ what would come to mind- a brightly colored hippie eating organic food and practicing ancient forms of yoga? Well, that could be true but for me, well not exactly- Im learning a natural way to happiness.
It all started (officially) since doing meditation for 10 minutes a day as each day i can feel a difference.

I’ve finally cut my hair shorter, (despite Mr.C’s objections) and have so much more energy now too. I can write a To Do list and get all of it done by 10pm and I’ve taken up jogging again and this time its me wanting to sprint from one lamppost to the next and insisting we go twice a week- who would have thought! Also my head is constantly in a book and i love reading again; a personal success book in the morning, a best selling novel on my lunch break and in the evenings Im learning a new skill and turning pages of magazines! And it is me reading which has brought better things…...

I’ve always liked learning and staying healthy, so every month I used to (and still do) get Healthy magazine £1.50 Holland and Barrett. Anyway, I was in WH Smiths one morning, feeling a bit sorry for myself as I had a terrible cold that wasn’t budging and was waiting for my mum to show up for a day of shopping. So I started browsing through the magazines, trying not to make it obvious I wasn’t buying, just wasting time. I looked through a few celebrity magazines, craft magazines and came across one I’ve never scanned eyes on before- Spirit and Destiny priced £3.95.

Instantly attracted, I was hooked on every word, the real life stories which were really good, and I don’t mean the freakishly weird ones like in Take a Break or Pick Me up! As well as articles focused on your mind, body and spirit and the spooky super natural.
So I tried memorizing a few things I had read as I left the shop when I got the call that mum’s bus had arrived in town.

Later that day I some how managed to convince ‘a non believer of all that nonsense’ to buy it for me, hooray! And it has lead me into a how new world of Feng Shui, natural products and more about natural therapies.

Mr.C and me came back one evening after work, I had accidently locked myself out early that morning and had left without my keys so unlike usual we came home together. By the door I saw a little white package from a Feng Shui store I had visited, I excitedly squealed ‘My toad!!!’ to a confused Mr.C who waited for me to unwrap it.

I placed in my hand a dark red toad ornament which had a beady bright red eyes and an I Ching coin in his mouth and placed it by the door facing inwards to allow money to flow in, with a huge exited smile on my face.
Along with my toad also came some free I Ching coins to put in our wallets attracting more money our way. So hopefully Mr.Toad will bring good fortunes our way and not just delight our playful cats who haven’t yet figured out why or what it is and keep pushing it around!

Staying on the same level I bought some natural lip balm after reading the lovely story of Jessica Smith, who makes her own lip balms for a living using Organic She and Cocoa butters.
This morning I heard the flutter of post through the door and there it was, another little white package- this is becoming a regular occurrence! In a neat thin tube was my summer fruit balm, which is making my lips smooth, glossy and tastes scrummy too!

Earlier in the week I found in the library a big book on Complimentary Therapies which is my ‘new skill’ as I want to learn more about services that are naturally available to help people, and give me a kick start before my Indian Head course in May!

So you see, I am just just a learner in all things natural, I notice it a lot more now than before though. Such as when shopping with Mr.C for T-Shirts for him I quickly browsed the way out of my price range clothes and noticed Sea Salt. ‘Hmmm funny name-for clothes’ `I thought as I put my hand on the softest plain long sleeved top I had ever ever felt, I looked at the label ‘Woow this tops made out of..BAMBOO!’ I said out loud, a little louder than I thought. Its things like that that make me feel good and cheer me up and when I get my riches I will update my stack of ordinary clothes, with an organic range and some ethical jewelry too.

Getting back to nature, also lead us to The Lido at Ruslip. I have family here and used to go a lot when I was younger, so I wanted to share it with Mr.C!
